About The Horse Protection League at Churches Ranch
Formed in 1994, The Horse Protection League is a non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of horses, ponies, donkeys and mules in the greater Rocky Mountain Region. Located near Arvada and Golden, HPL is supported and run entirely by volunteer members who love and cherish the horse. 

HPL is headquartered at Churches Ranch, part of the Long Lake Regional Park annexed by the City of Arvada. The ranch is located at 17999 W. 60th Avenue in Golden, on the north side between Highway 93 and Easley Road.    For a list of our Board of Directors, click here.

 

Renovations:Gallery.
You may have noticed contruction at HPL. The property is part of the National Historic Register as a rural historic district. The farmhouse renovation was finished in 2006 and the barn renovation was completed in 2009. There are plans for the City of Arvada to work with local historical societies to develop a museum in the farmhouse. It's a joy to see the property returning to some of its original uses, and for HPL to have barns and pastures for its horses!
